Andrew here. Sorry, it’s been a while since I wrote!
I noticed an interesting post on Reddit the other day - Zapier are testing out a new Agentic zap builder.

Here’s what the post has to say:
We've been working on something we're pretty excited about, and we're ready to open it up to a small group of testers.
Instead of configuring a Zap step by step, you describe what you want in plain language and it builds one for you. Under the hood it interprets your prompt, dynamically fetches test records, configures each step, and generates a ready-to-review Zap. You land in the Zap Editor to tweak and publish.
Think of it as telling Zapier what you want to automate instead of building it yourself.
Some caveats:
Right now, it’s only good for building a zap with a few steps (and no paths).
Your prompt needs to have a clear structure - when X happens, do Y and Z.

Does it work?
Of course, as soon as I got access, I decided to give it a go.
It started with an easy prompt:
“When I add a new row to a Google Sheet, send the details as a Slack message to …”
What’s cool is that it tries to autocomplete the prompt with more details, and gives you a checklist below the prompt to help you provide enough detail.

Once you kick-start the agent, fun stuff starts to happen. You’ll get an ongoing progress report, and you can give the agent extra information if you need to.

And it’ll prompt you if it needs more information.

Finally, once it’s built, you’ll have a chance to edit the steps in the workflow and then test it.

Overall, it took 2 minutes and nailed it.
